One of the things I’ve continued to enjoy about paranormal romances was how I could dig deeper with the emotional levels and play 
harder, heavier with angst, love and everything in between. I think as a reader first, I like to experience books like roller coasters. Even as I write this blog, I’m listening to dark, angry Djent-metal and Russian Death Metal band Ease of Disgust, so I can stay in the mood I’m trying to set while I talk about four heroes from three books. We’ll start darkest to lightest so we end on a happy note, just like a good set of romance stories should.
In my upcoming Red Sage release ENDANGERED (Nights of Lust book 1) Joséf Staganov is an angry man. Fed up with the world, dismayed by his peers on the police force, and now hooked on the smack he was trying to get off the streets, he’s a bitter man with one goal. Do one last good deed before he’s killed. Only, when Livía and her lover Isabella interfere with his desires to die, does he stop for a moment to examine his true motives. When they begin to interfere and reveal to him his true destiny, it does nothing to undermine the real mission Joséf embarked upon when he joined the police force, but only by walking through the fires of hell will he be able to succeed.
Józsi and Nicholaus from my Opeth Pack Saga share the same problem. Both men are stubborn and refusing to accept their fate until dragged back into the fight by loved ones. Only in the arms of their triads can they find solace from the noise in their heads. They desperately need safety from the hazards of being strong alpha males in a wolf pack badly in need of resurrection.
Finally, we’ve come to Derrick. Reluctant hero, former spy and unlike my previous heroes, puma shifter, not wolf. He spent time in a three letter organization until the nightmares and life of a spook grated on his nerves, tearing him down. After he retired, a friend came to him asking for a favor, altering his main mission of relaxing and staying off the grid. Only for love, will he be able to change, grow, and address some of the issues plaguing him, but he remains unaware until a few chance encounters with a beautiful witch with a deadly voice crosses his path. This book will be published this summer through Assent Publishing’s Ardent Books Imprint!
Each of the stories takes a look at those darker elements and allows the heroines to do what I believe a romance 
heroine should be allowed to do: Stand firm yet give just enough to let the hero grow on his own. As a reader drawn to the likes of JR Ward, Lora Leigh and Christina Dodd’s para-rom, I’ve taken great pains to ensure I’ve learned the lessons from those wonderful authors and made my stories my own, yet peppered them properly so you the reader will enjoy them and beg for more.
After all, I am the bad boy of romance.
